More About Us

The Luster Foundation is the embodiment of our family’s longstanding values, passions, and commitment to serving our community. Our inspiration to create this foundation was sparked by a desire to continue to the legacy of Orville and Joy Luster, two active community leaders in San Francisco who fought for civil rights and advocated for the empowerment of marginalized people. As an interracial couple who valued education and meaningful community service, they sought to support people of all ages and skin color in their pursuit of a better life. Through mentorship and advocacy, they guided countless people to opportunities that reshaped their lives. Our goal is to continue Orville and Joy’s lifeworks through this family foundation by picking up where they left off. Just as they were, we are commitment to supporting those who need a lifting hand. We hope to exemplify the Luster family’s dedication to education, diversity, and integrity in all our endeavors and to impact positive community change for generations to come.
